Travelogue
It's Day 22 of our trip or to put it another way, day 1 of the fourth week.

We left our quiet little campsite and cycled west, staying north of the Rhine. Very quickly we stopped for coffee and pastries, charged at a much preferred EU price, with us still being in Germany.

Crossing to the south of the river, we were back in Switzerland where it quickly became overcast, not a great day for solar energy production. The panels stayed out on The Mule nevertheless. Every little helps.

Most of the remainder of the day we cycled through farmland or forest or sometimes on roads but only occasionally right by the river.

Nothing of particular note happened other than M2 consistently out-riding M1 whose little leggies had not recovered from yesterday's unexpectedly hard cycling, with that dreaded combo of hills and headwinds.

We stopped for cold drinks at a bar and smiled wryly at the "Swiss prices". 10 Swiss Francs (nearly £10) for two small bottles of Coke. Oh my word :-)

After some cycling on (at times) worryingly busy roads, complete with huge lorries that had no respect (or maybe no room?) for cycle lanes, Basel was finally in sight. The sun was now well and truly out and at 33 degrees Celsius, it felt really hot.

We managed to find our way to the Airbnb apartment we've booked for two nights and were met in person by a very welcoming host who lives upstairs. In the fridge was a selection of "welcome drinks" which included the best alcohol free beer that M1 (a non-drinker) has ever had.

Tomorrow is a rest day but a walking tour of Basel will most definitely be included.
