Travelogue
Our focus yesterday was the Guggenheim Museum and we saw a bit of the city and the old town in particular en route there. Today we wandered with no specific destination in mind, taking in more of the river banks and more of the neighbourhoods away from the river. Of the places we found ourselves there was the siete calles (7 streets) of the old town, Zubeola Avenue in the Irala neighbourhood which features houses that are supposedly of an English design, a plaza or two and the Doña Casilda Iturrizar Park.
The weather forecast was for sun and more sun all day. Imagine our surprise when around lunchtime, the sky darkened and peals of thunder started to be heard echoing in the hills around the city. Imagine our amazement when it started to rain. Great big lazy drops of water fell slowly from the sky. Drip drip splosh. We started to fear we might actually end up properly wet! We hastened our pace a little and found our way back up to the local park at the top of the million steps and from there back to the apartment to read and relax. It's stopped raining now and all is once more well with the world.
Have any other readers had that experience? Where the weather forecast turned out to be slightly wrong? It's a strange and sad world that we live in when the word of a meteorologist can't be trusted.
